Gender and youth

The gender and youth crosscutting axis aims to contribute to greater equity and equality in agricultural development and rural territories, through the mainstreaming of gender and youth approaches in the different actions promoted by IICA. For the above, it supports the visibility of the situation and importance of rural women and youth; capacity building on issues related to gender and youth; the development of policies, programs and proposals that improve the economic autonomy of young people and women; and the improvement of their incidence capacity.
The axis operationalizes its work in three different ways: i) from the concrete actions developed by the Programs at the hemispheric and country levels; ii) in response to specific demands from IICA Offices in the countries, as well as from other different institutional institutions; and, iii) through the development of hemispheric actions of the axis.
